This second work from my “Candid Camaraderie” series, I explore the unusual friendship between an elephant and the Indian Roller bird inspired by the wild beauty of Karnataka. Here, strength bows gently toward lightness. Power softens into presence.

Inspiration & creative process:

Nature can be a tough place to be but it can also be a place to foster a candid camaraderie just like this one between the Indian Roller bird & a gentle elephant.

In this series of works, I am exploring unusual connections in nature through the use of contrast, scale and textures. I painted this piece in a very playful, abstract expressive way.

I started with no plan in my mind just the two beings & I just let my heart take me where it wanted to go. I used a lot of things for interesting mark making like threads, twigs, real flowers for painting the flowers in the painting, a lot of texture paste, real leaves, thread & I had so much fun creating this very unique painting.
