Inspiration and Creative process:

Kashmir is truly 'heaven on earth' & it can leave you mesmerized for life.

This painting is inspired by my time spent in Kashmir. You may ask me- where is this? & I'll say this is not a place, this is an experience!

This painting expresses my experience of Kashmir- the freshness of the air, the fragrance of flowers in their full bloom, the snow-capped mountains shimmering in sunlight, the serene waters of the Dal-lake, the lonely Shikara waiting for tourists to create lifelong memories like it did for me.

I was so deeply moved by multiple emotions that I had to paint them as 'an ode' to one of the most beautiful places I've been to where nature completely absorbed me.

It's painted in a very abstract expressive way with no plan in my mind just a swarm of emotions & memories. I just let my heart take me where it wanted to go. I used a lot of things for interesting mark making like toy cars, real flowers for painting all the flowers & leaves in the painting. In fact, all the flowers you see here are inspired from the flora of Kashmir.
